Most of these services require either an account with the service provider (often at rates of up to $30 per month) - or to buy a $10 scratchcard. Neither of these makes sense for someone who just wants to make a phonecall.

We have negotiated per minute rates with a range of hotspot operators worldwide and our real-time meter shows how much your call is costing you as you talk. The rates vary, but an average rate is around 5 cent per minute.
